Environmental Compliance for Industries – Wastewater Perspective

It was the first deliverance of 1-day course on Environmental Compliance for Industries – Wastewater Perspective launched on October 2, 2018. The event was organized by Centre for Continuing Engineering Education (CCEE) now working under the auspices of NED Academy, NED University of Engineering and Technology. On its first launch the course captured comparatively a high strength. HROs of Organizations showed their faith on NED Academy in nominating their Executives / Officers to participate in this course. With recent developments in the field, we are confident that the course meets current organizational requirements and provides their nominees with an in-depth understanding and application of modern methods.

In total, 26 participants of public and private sector organizations attended the course. These included Dy. General Manager, Compliance Officer, EHS Executive, Environmental Analyst, Asst. Manager (Environment), Asst. Manager (Project), Project Coordinator, HSE Specialist, Admin Executive, head of Engineering & EHS, Sr. Supervisor and the like. It was heartening to witness that private organizations showed very keen interest in the course and almost 90% of the attendees came from corporate sector. Following key organizations participated in the event: Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works, Rajby Industries, Lucky Textile Mills, Tekcellent Pvt. Ltd., Asian Continental Pvt. Ltd., healthtek Pvt. Ltd., Trans World Multipurpose Industries Pvt. Ltd., Searle Pharmaceutical, etc.

Dr. Atif Mustafa was the key Resource Person and Engr. Mansoor Ahmed was the co-facilitator for the training. The third session of the event was conducted by a representative of Sindh environmental Protection Agency (SEAP).

Lectures, presentations, handouts, experiential learning, interactive discussions, Q/A sessions and problem solving were used as learning methodologies to facilitate the participants and get the best out of the 1-day course. Networking hi-teas were used to discuss concepts and practical problems. All participants were awarded Certificate of attendance.

Body of knowledge covered in the training included: Wastewater issue, Environmental regulations, Compliance requirements (SEQS, BSR, Progressive standards, Treatment Schemes, Compact treatment systems.

The training was unanimously evaluated as remarkable and all participants stated their maximum level of contentment with the training content as well as deliverance.

At the end of the training, Certificate Award Ceremony was held where the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Mir Shabbar Ali – Dean CPL distributed Certificates of attendance to all participants. The Ceremony ended with the valuable remarks of the Chief Guest.
